On the wedding day each individual present has to be dressed at their best to mark the beautiful occasion.

The bride and the groom have to look their best on the day of their matrimony. It is an important stage of their lives where two souls become one. The bride on her D day usually wears sharara which is a traditional wedding dress worn in muslim wedding. Other than sharara, many prefer hijab and lehnga which is a three piece garment having a blouse which is usually long in its length, a long skirt and a dupatta. The color of the wedding has to be selected cautiously as many colors like black and white are considered inauspicious. Colors like green, red, blue or peach are most preferred for a wedding dress. This dress is usually very bright and shiny where heavy embroidery is done with golden thread known as zari with dapka work. The head is covered with a dupatta and the blouse sleeves are usually long showing minimum skin. These days many brides have given their dresses a modern touch and wear short sleeves and blouses.

A tikka is put on the hair parting coming till the forehead and adjacent to it a very specific ornament which only Muslim women wear is called as jhoomar is attached on the side of the hair. She also wears lots of bangles matching with her dress and wears an anklet popularly known as paayal around the ankles. After wearing the wedding dress and jewelry, a bunch of jasmine flowers are attached on her hairstyle and over it a dupatta is placed to cover her head. The bride looks traditional and angelic in her bridal wear and henna on the palms give the whole look a complete look.

The groom wears a sherwani which is a long high collared coat heavily embroidered with traditional Indian golden threads. The groom also applies henna on his palms which adds to full sleeves sherwani look. Below the sherwani the groom wears a khada pyjama or churidaar with mojri a type of shoes for Indian dresses. Groom’s face is covered with a sehra which stops people to see his face on the wedding day. In jewelry, the groom wear rings in his hands and a pearl or other precious stone’s chain around his neck.

The muslim bride and groom do not see each other till the wedding contract has been signed by both.
